" In THE WAY OF RIGHTEOUSNESS is life; and in the PATHWAY thereof there is no death."                                 - Proverbs 12:28. Righteousness has a way; the pathway of life. Sin also has a way; the pathway of death.  But we know that God has given to us the gift of righteousness; the gift of life.  How does the gift of righteousness connect with walking in the way of righteousness? Unless you understand that it was written for our example; the testimony of Abel in scripture can discourage you. A young man gains acceptance and righteousness with God through faith. The next thing we see is he dies by the wicked hand of his brother who gave himself to be used by Satan. That is not exactly a good motivation for anyone to seek to be righteous and please God. WHAT IS THE LESSON WE CAN LEARN FROM ABEL? Faith is not only for our eternal salvation; it is also for our temporal salvation and victory. We know that Hebrews Chapter 11 is the Bible hall of fame of faith. But if you look closely you will discover that it covers all aspects of life - depending on how you choose to apply your faith.  Abel's faith represents the most fundamental, the most important, aspect of our faith; which is the eternal salvation of our souls. " FOR YOU ARE DEAD , and YOUR LIFE is HID WITH Christ in God ." (Colossians 3:3). This sounds like a paradox. But it is life transforming truth. Your old sinful and guilty self died WITH Christ.  YOU ARE DEAD! (Ponder). You have already paid the price of the law for your old sinful life through the death of Christ for you on the Cross. When Christ rose again from the dead, you also rose WITH Him. Apostle Paul affirms it in a separate text. " I AM CRUCIFIED with Christ: NEVERTHELESS I LIVE; yet not I, but CHRIST LIVES IN ME…" (Galatians 2:20a). Now your new life is the righteous and innocent resurrection life of Christ. Your new life is hid WITH Christ in God. You are now a part of the new body of Christ on the earth. CHRIST IS YOUR LIFE "When Christ, WHO IS OUR LIFE, shall APPEAR , then shall you also APPEAR WITH him in glory ." (Colossians 3:4). Think about the fact that Christ IS now your life. Who is Christ? We know that Satan is the head of his kingdom made up of principality, power, might, dominion, rulers of the darkness of this world, spiritual wickedness in high places, demons and their human agents. With this hierarchy of the kingdom of darkness he seeks to rule over men, nations and the world. If a person is not in Christ he or she is a slave and victim of this satanic hierarchy.
