A TOTAL VICTORY PACKAGE
Unless you understand that it was written for our example; the testimony of Abel in scripture can discourage you. A young man gains acceptance and righteousness with God through faith. The next thing we see is he dies by the wicked hand of his brother who gave himself to be used by Satan. That is not exactly a good motivation for anyone to seek to be righteous and please God.
WHAT IS THE LESSON WE CAN LEARN FROM ABEL? Faith is not only for our eternal salvation; it is also for our temporal salvation and victory.
We know that Hebrews Chapter 11 is the Bible hall of fame of faith. But if you look closely you will discover that it covers all aspects of life - depending on how you choose to apply your faith.
Abel's faith represents the most fundamental, the most important, aspect of our faith; which is the eternal salvation of our souls. Though he is physically dead, he is alive spiritually.
"BY FAITH Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was RIGHTEOUS, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaks." (Hebrews 11:4).
TEMPORAL VICTORIES
But in the same chapter we discover other testimonies of faith for temporal deliverance and preservation. For example about Moses it is written:
"THROUGH FAITH he kept the passover, and the SPRINKLING OF BLOOD, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them." (Hebrews 11:28).
And about Rahab the harlot it says this:
"BY FAITH the harlot Rahab PERISHED NOT with them that BELIEVED NOT, when she had received the spies with peace." (Hebrews 11:31).
She was not just saved spiritually, she was also preserved with her extended family. If you read her full story in Joshua Chapter 2 (and 6) you will find that it was about the saving and protective power of faith in the blood.
No wonder Paul commanded us by the Spirit to completely apply our faith.
"Above all, taking the SHIELD OF FAITH, wherewith you shall be able to quench ALL the fiery darts of the WICKED." (Ephesians 6:16).
PLEASE SAY THIS PRAYER
"In the name of Jesus, I receive grace and wisdom to apply faith in the blood of Jesus Christ for all things (that pertains to life and godliness). By faith in the blood I am free indeed. I shall never be a victim of the enemy. I am saved, protected, preserved, provided for and prospering by faith in the blood of Jesus. I raise the blood of Jesus Christ as the standard of God against the enemy in all departments of my life. My going out is blessed. My coming in is blessed. I am delivered from all evil. I am completely kept by the power of God; me and my family. Thank you Father, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen!
