COMPLETE IN THE HEAD

"And you are complete in him (Christ), which is THE HEAD of all principality and power" (Colossians 2:10).

That is a powerful piece of information there for us. We know that Satan is the head of his kingdom made up of principality, power, might, dominion, rulers of the darkness of this world, spiritual wickedness in high places, demons and their human agents. With this hierarchy of the kingdom of darkness he seeks to rule over men, nations and the world. If a person is not in Christ he or she is a slave and victim of this satanic hierarchy. The unsaved person is the least in the kingdom of Satan.

How then did Jesus Christ become the head of principality and power? How is He head over Satan and his cohorts? To be sure, He has always been their head from creation. He is the head of all things.

"Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell" (Colossians 1:15-19).

The good news is that Christ came to the earth to bring fallen man from under satanic hierarchy.

"Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins" (Colossians 1:13-14).

By His death on the Cross, resurrection and ascension to the throne at the right hand of the Father in heaven; Christ triumphed over Satan and his cohorts. He did it for us. As a sinless man He destroyed the authority of Satan over mankind with His innocent blood.

"Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it." (Colossians 2:14-15).

The implication is that Satan and his kingdom has no final say as far as man's destiny is concerned. Final authority on the operation of the kingdom of Satan on earth resides with Christ. Satan must have permission before he can operate on earth.

A HEADSHIP FOR THE CHURCH

Any man who believes in Christ is moved from under the authority of Satan into the kingdom of Christ as a member of His body, the Church. The headship or authority of Christ over Satan's kingdom belongs to believers on earth. Christ was raised far above Satan and his cohorts and God put all things under His feet.

"And hath put all things under his feet, and GAVE HIM to be THE HEAD over all things TO THE CHURCH,

Which is his body, the fullness of him that fills all in all." (Ephesians 1:22-23).

The headship of Christ over all things, including principality and power, belongs to the Church to execute on earth. That is why He said; "... upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

And I will give unto you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." (Matthew 16:18-19).

Satan and his cohorts can only have their way on earth where the Church, the body of Christ, refuses to exercise Christ's headship rights over them. The Church can counter and revoke the assignment of Satan on earth in the name of Jesus Christ.

God "GAVE HIM to be THE HEAD over all things TO THE CHURCH…" That coincides with when He GAVE HIM the Name above every other name.

On earth the Church can bind, forbid the work of the devil in the name of Jesus Christ. We are partakers and sharers in Christ's authority over Satan. He triumphed over Satan for us. We enforce that triumph in His Name. We are complete in Him which is the head of principality and power. The Church is ordained to progressively rule over principality and power by the manifold wisdom of God.

"To the intent that now unto the PRINCIPALITIES and POWERS in heavenly places might be known BY THE CHURCH the MANIFOLD WISDOM of God,

According to the eternal purpose which he purposed IN CHRIST Jesus our Lord:

IN WHOM we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him." (Ephesians 3:10-12).

In your own life and in your own place as an individual member of the body of Christ; do not let Satan have the final say. Engage the wisdom of God to triumph always.
