COMMANDED TO REJOICE

L ast month my neighbour's wife gave birth to a boy. That night his kinsmen gathered in joyful celebration with songs and dancing. That was how I found out about the birth of the new baby. We joined them to rejoice. Anyone can rejoice when there is good news. Anyone can praise God when they experience victory. That is natural. They don't need a command to do so. But the command to rejoice is not for all. " REJOICE evermore. In every thing GIVE THANKS : for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." (1 Thessalonians 5:16, 18). This is a heavenly command for a peculiar people on earth. What then is the real purpose of this command to rejoice in the Lord?  1. IT IS TO SENSITIZE YOU AS A STRANGER ON EARTH ABOUT THE POWER OF YOUR PRAISE.  It is for you not to let circumstances steal your praise and rejoicing. You will be behaving like other men. The Lord who gives you victory on earth and in whom you are rejoicing is not subject to circumstances. By right H...

ENJOY COVENANT KINDNESS

" That in the ages to come he might SHEW the exceeding riches of his grace in HIS KINDNESS TOWARD US through Christ Jesus ." (Ephesians 2:7). God is kind. But He is also sovereign. The kindness of God is His favour (goodness, mercy and faithfulness) towards man. In His sovereignty God can choose who to show His kindness. But there is another level of kindness to enjoy.  Covenant kindness is when divine kindness becomes your divine right. That right is reserved for God's children. Therefore the Children of God should know how to receive the kindness of their heavenly Father.  DAVID IS MOVED BY COVENANT The covenant between David and Jonathan is given for our witness and example. That covenant was essentially about David SHOWING KINDNESS to Jonathan and his seed, for as long as David was alive. God was back of it. (Read 1 Samuel 20:14-17, 42). It was the covenant that later moved David to SHOW KINDNESS to Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan; lifted him up from Lo Debar to...

NEVER QUESTION GOD'S ABILITY

I f you desire help from God your faith must be in two of His attributes. You need faith in the MERCY of God. You need faith in the POWER of God. One little lesson I have  learnt from the word of God is never to doubt or question God's ability. In the Old Testament it had terrible consequences for those who did. In this dispensation of Christ it is a sure way to miss out on your miracle. We can learn from the faith of two blind men who came to Jesus Christ. " And when Jesus departed thence, TWO BLIND men followed him, crying, and saying, You Son of David, HAVE MERCY ON US. And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe you that I AM ABLE to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, ACCORDING TO YOUR FAITH be it unto you. " (Matthew 9:27-29). It could have been any two persons who had the same need. That means, it could be you and whatever your need is now. It is not enough to cry ou...
