TRUST, POWER AND LOVE.

I can't remember the name of the teacher; but I will never forget the illustration of trust that he gave us. The year was 2003, June. The Course was the Basic Certificate Course (BCC) of the World of Faith Bible Institute (WOFBI), Lagos. The subject was Principles of Faith. THE ILLUSTRATION Once upon a time there were two villages separated by a wide crocodile infested river. The people of one village lived  a troubled and miserable life. But on the other side of the river the people were living in peace and enjoying all the good things of life. All the inhabitants of the troubled village longed to go to the peaceful one. But they must either use a canoe or swim across. The fear of crocodile will not permit it. That was until a superman arrived and by some magic feats tied a rope across two poles on either side of the river. Like a circus master he walked on the rope from the troubled village to the peaceful one and back. Next he put a bull on his shoulder, walked across and back a...

Understanding the GREATEST LOVE

"GREATER LOVE has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (John  15:13). The Lord Himself indicated that there are levels of love. When Jesus Christ died for our sin on the Cross He manifested the greatest love. On the love scale, so to speak, the love of God for humanity is perfect. Anyone who is in Christ has entered into the perfect and unconditional love of God. Nothing can separate them from it. God met our greatest need by His greatest love. He saved us from sin, death and the power of Satan. How then can His love fail us now? That's the question of Paul. "He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him ALSO freely give us all things?" (Romans  8:32). If when God knew that we were dead and lost in sin it didn't stop Him from investing His own Son for our salvation; why should an accusation of sin by the enemy stop Him from forgiving us now that we are in Christ? Why should it stop Him...

MORE THAN CONQUERORS!

Sheep are food for wolves. So only a wicked person would send sheep into the midst of wolves. That is a death sentence; a suicide mission. But look at what Jesus said to His disciples.  "Behold, I send you forth AS SHEEP in the midst of wolves: be you therefore WISE as serpents, and harmless as doves." (Matthew  10:16). Jesus sent them after He gave them authority over all the power of the enemy (Matthew 10:1, Luke 9:1-2). Would a sheep be willing to go into the midst of wolves?" The answer is obviously No. But a sheep who knows that he has authority over the power of wolves to harm him would go. But wolves cannot agree that a sheep has authority over them. What Jesus was really telling His disciples was that there will be attempts to trouble, afflict and hurt them. There will be persecution and suffering. Paul later wrote about this to the church in the book of Romans. "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, o...
