THE SILENCE THAT GAVE US A VOICE
Have you ever wondered why Jesus remained silent before His accusers?
Before Jesus went to the Cross, mankind was trapped under the bondage of sin and the dominion of Satan. Because of Adam’s fall, sin gave Satan the legal right to accuse, oppress, and enslave humanity (Romans 5:12, Colossians 2:13-14). But Jesus came to break that power and set us free (Hebrews 2:14-15).
Isaiah 53:7 prophesied:
"He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth."
Jesus chose to remain silent, not because He was powerless, but because He was fulfilling prophecy. His silence was not weakness—it was surrender to a greater purpose: to redeem mankind through His suffering and death.
Had Jesus spoken in self-defense, He could have called legions of angels to deliver Him (Matthew 26:53). But He held His peace so that we could one day speak in victory. His silence sealed Satan’s defeat and gave us authority through His name.
NOW, WE MUST OPEN OUR MOUTHS IN FAITH
Jesus remained silent so that we would not have to be.
In a profound exchange, His silence at the Cross gave us the power to speak—to declare our salvation, resist the devil, and walk in victory.
Romans 10:9-10 tells us that salvation itself is activated through confession:
"If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."
Satan no longer has the right to oppress us, but he still seeks to deceive (1 Peter 5:8). He can only enslave those who remain silent and ignorant of their authority in Christ. But we are no longer his captives! We have the legal right, through the blood of Jesus, to stand in victory and resist him.
DECLARE YOUR FREEDOM!
Now, just as Jesus refused to speak so that we could, we must not remain silent! We must boldly declare what Christ has done:
• I declare that I am free from sin and condemnation! (Romans 8:1).
• I declare that I am redeemed by the blood of Jesus! (Ephesians 1:7).
• I resist the devil, and he flees from me! (James 4:7).
• I walk in victory, not defeat! (Romans 8:37).
• I stand in the power of Jesus Christ! (Luke 10:19).
Jesus’ silence was not a sign of weakness—it was the powerful surrender that won our freedom. Because He did not open His mouth, we can open ours and proclaim His victory!
IT’S TIME TO SPEAK!
The enemy thrives in silence. He wins when we refuse to confess God's truth over our lives. But Jesus already paid the price, and now we must enforce the victory He won for us.
Now is the time to speak. Now is the time to declare. Now is the time to walk in the victory that Jesus has won for us!
