PARTNERING WITH GOD TO REVIVE HOPELESS SITUATIONS
The Power of Prophetic Declarations
One of the most profound revelations in scripture is that God, in all His omnipotence, did not act alone in reviving the dry bones in the valley as recorded in Ezekiel 37. Instead, He instructed Ezekiel to prophesy over the bones, speaking life and restoration into what was utterly lifeless and hopeless. This reveals a significant principle: God chooses to operate by inviting His people to partner with Him through faith-filled declarations that release His power.
God’s Invitation to Partnership
When God led Ezekiel to the valley of dry bones, He posed a question: “Can these bones live?” (Ezekiel 37:3). Though God already had the answer and the power to bring the bones to life, He involved Ezekiel in the process. God’s instruction to Ezekiel was clear:
“Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!’” (Ezekiel 37:4).
By commanding Ezekiel to prophesy, God demonstrated His desire to work through human vessels. He didn’t bypass Ezekiel but invited him to play a crucial role in unleashing divine power. This reveals a deep spiritual truth that God’s power is often activated through the spoken word of His people.
The Power of Declaring God’s Word
The Bible consistently highlights the authority of spoken words when aligned with God’s will.
Genesis 1: God spoke creation into existence. His words carried the power to transform nothingness into something.
Proverbs 18:21: Our words carry creative and destructive power. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”
Mark 11:23: Jesus taught that speaking in faith can move mountains: “Whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.”
In Ezekiel 37, it was the act of prophesying, speaking God’s word over the dry bones, that initiated the miraculous process of restoration. As Ezekiel declared God’s word, the bones came together, flesh covered them, and breath entered them, bringing them to life. Without Ezekiel’s obedience to declare, the miracle would not have unfolded.
Why Does God Require Our Declarations?
● Free Will and Dominion: From the beginning, God gave humanity dominion over the earth (Genesis 1:26-28). While God is sovereign, He has chosen to work through humanity to accomplish His purposes on earth. When we speak His word, we exercise the authority He has given us, aligning our will with His and inviting His power into our situations.
● Faith Activation: Declarations are an expression of faith. Hebrews 11:6 reminds us that “without faith it is impossible to please God.” Speaking God’s promises, especially in the face of hopelessness, activates faith and aligns us with His plans. When Ezekiel prophesied, he was demonstrating faith in God’s ability to do the impossible.
● God’s Word Carries Creative Power: Isaiah 55:11 states: “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” When we declare God’s word, we release its inherent power to accomplish His purposes.
Examples of Prophetic Declarations in Scripture
Moses at the Red Sea: God instructed Moses to stretch out his staff and speak, parting the Red Sea (Exodus 14:15-16). Though God performed the miracle, Moses’ action and declaration were essential.
Joshua at Jericho: God commanded Joshua and the Israelites to march around Jericho and shout (Joshua 6:5). Their obedience and declaration of victory brought the walls down.
Elijah and the Rain: After declaring that there would be no rain, Elijah later prayed and declared the return of rain, and God answered (1 Kings 18:41-45).
Practical Application: Declaring Life Over Dead Situations
Just as Ezekiel was instructed to prophesy to the dry bones, believers today are called to speak life over situations that seem hopeless. Here’s how we can apply this principle:
i. Identify the Dry Bones
What areas in your life feel lifeless, hopeless, or beyond repair? It could be a broken relationship, financial struggles, health issues, or spiritual dryness. Recognize these “dry bones” as opportunities for God’s power to manifest.
ii. Declare God’s Promises
● Find Scriptures that align with God’s will for your situation, believe and declare them boldly. For example:
• For provision: “My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).
• For healing: “By His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).
• For restoration: “I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten” (Joel 2:25).
iii. Speak in Faith
Even when circumstances look unchanged, declare God’s word with unwavering faith. Faith-filled declarations align your words with God’s truth, creating an atmosphere for His power to work.
iv. Trust God for the Results
Ezekiel’s role was to prophesy; it was God who brought the bones to life. Similarly, our responsibility is to speak in faith and trust God to accomplish His will.
Faith Confessions to Speak Life
Here are some confessions to declare over your life and circumstances:
• “I speak life into every dry and hopeless area of my life. God’s power is at work, and restoration is coming.”
• “The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in me and gives life to my mortal body.” (Romans 8:11)
• “I declare that no weapon formed against me shall prosper. I walk in victory through Christ Jesus.” (Isaiah 54:17).
• “I prophesy to my circumstances: Be aligned with God’s word. His plans for me are good, and His promises are yes and amen.”
• “God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all I ask or think, according to His power at work in me.” (Ephesians 3:20).
Partnering with God in Faith
In conclusion, the story of Ezekiel and the dry bones is a powerful reminder that God’s power is often released through our faith-filled declarations. By inviting Ezekiel to prophesy, God demonstrated His desire to partner with His people in bringing life to hopeless situations. As believers, we are called to speak God’s word with boldness and faith, trusting Him to accomplish the impossible. Whatever “dry bones” you face today, remember: when you declare God’s word, you release His power into your situation. Prophesy life, and watch God work miracles.
