UNDERSTANDING LIFE, DEATH AND ETERNAL LIFE

You will lose the fear of death when you understand that your life didn't begin when you were born into this world; and it will not end when you die. Your life precedes your physical body. You are not your body. Your physical body belongs to you. One day you will lay it down in death. But you will take it up again at the resurrection on the last day; either glorified or doomed. 

Let me show you what you should fear. Dying without having eternal life. That is what you should fear. In fact fear is a manifestation of spiritual death - the knowledge that you lack eternal life. Without eternal life, death is a separation from God forever. It is eternal damnation. But when you have eternal life, death is actually an appearance in the very presence of God. It is far better¹ than life in the flesh. Physical death is either life in the very presence of God or eternal separation from His presence.


WHAT THEN IS THE PURPOSE OF LIFE IN THE BODY?


Life in the body is to do the will of God. It is to find the will of God and do it. As far as His will is concerned, the priority of God for you is to receive eternal life; the salvation of your soul. Without eternal life, your time on earth would have been wasted. And you will spend eternity in regret. It is eternal life that qualifies you to be with the Lord.


The purpose of Jesus coming to the earth was to do the will of God². He was born to die and take away our sin with His blood; and rise again on the third day to give us eternal life and righteousness through faith in Him. That was why He received a body² from God the Father. His life did not begin when He was born. He was born to save us from our sin. 


He laid down His life for us and took it up again after three days. He only ascended to heaven after He had accomplished the will of God to take away our sin³ for our salvation. 


The question is: What are you going to do with such a great salvation?⁴ Are you going to let it waste? Are you going to waste your life by not believing in the salvation He has provided for you? 


But if you will believe and receive Jesus Christ today as your Saviour and Lord, you will receive eternal life. That is your salvation; the only escape route.
