BELOVED OF GOD

Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not LIE unto DAVID.” (Psalms 89:35).

This promise of God to DAVID struck me in an unusual way during my study because the Spirit of God connected it with the meaning of DAVID

THE NAME DAVID

In Hebrew DAVID means BELOVED. It also means FAVOURITE. A name is not just an identity tag. It is also a prophetic tag because it speaks about the destiny of the bearer. In the mind of God your name should affect your expectation in life. The name God calls you is stronger than any name man could call you. It is stronger than your circumstances.

WHAT IS YOUR NAME?

You have a name. But do you know what God calls you? In His covenant with Jesus Christ God has given you a name that you can't afford to ignore. God calls you BELOVED.

“As he saith also in Osee, I will CALL THEM my people, which were not my people; and her BELOVED, which was not beloved.” (Romans 9:25).

In Christ Jesus you are God’s BELOVED. You are His FAVOURITE. You are highly favoured.

To all that be in Rome, BELOVED of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 1:7).

To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he has made us accepted in the BELOVED.” (Ephesians 1:6).

THE VOICE OF YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES

Your circumstances may be saying otherwise. It will surely lie to you. In fact contrary circumstances may be markers that you are God's BELOVED.

Consider Joseph.

Consider Moses

Consider David.

Then consider Jesus Christ to whom God said, “This is my BELOVED Son…”

You will discover that God sends His BELOVED to save others. They go through the hard places of life that would destroy others. But they come out with testimony in spite of the plan of the wicked. The enemy will end up in shame.

THE SURE MERCIES OF DAVID

The sure mercies of David are the sure mercies of the BELOVED in Christ. All the promises of God to David belongs to the BELOVED of God in Christ*.

Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the SURE MERCIES OF DAVID.” (Isaiah 55:3).

If you want a picture of the scope of the sure mercies of David you can begin with Psalms 89:19-37.

1. God’s help, the Holy Spirit, is upon you.

2. You have been chosen by God and spiritually exalted out of the people upon the earth.

3. You have been anointed by God Almighty.

4. His divine hand shall be established with you.

5. His divine arm shall strengthen you.

6. The enemy shall not exact upon you.

7. The son of wickedness shall not afflict you.

8. God will beat down your foes before your face.

9. God will plague them that hate you.

10. God’s faithfulness and mercy shall be with you.

11. Your authority shall be exalted in His name.

12. Your hand shall prosper in everything and in every place.

13. He has become your Father and your God.

14. God is the rock of your salvation.

15. God will hear you when you cry to Him.

16. God will keep His mercy for you for evermore.

17.  His covenant shall stand fast with you.

18. God will not break His covenant neither will His promise fail you.

19. He will punish your sin.

20. God has sworn by His holiness not to lie unto you.

You are a seed of David in Christ Jesus. You are God's BELOVED.
