COME BOLDLY
"Mercy, Grace and Help is available at the throne of grace."
"Let us therefore COME BOLDLY unto the THRONE OF GRACE, that we may OBTAIN MERCY, and FIND GRACE TO HELP in time of need." (Hebrews 4:16).
If a man truly understands what this text is saying he will never again run from the presence of God. You see, we are not expecting judgment when we come to the throne of grace. Mercy, grace and help is what is waiting for us there. We only get judgment if we refuse to come to the throne of grace.
No one can lay a charge against you before God as long as your faith is in Christ. For Christ is there making intercession for you before God*. If you read Isaiah 53 and John 17 you will get a picture of what He is praying.
God will not condemn who Jesus has not condemned. "WHO IS HE THAT CONDEMNS? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also MAKES INTERCESSION FOR US." (Romans 8:34).
Christ is the perfect substitute for our sin. Judas who betrayed Him said, "I have sinned in that I have betrayed THE INNOCENT BLOOD." And PILATE, the judge that sentenced Him to be crucified said, "I am innocent of the blood of this RIGHTEOUS PERSON" (Matthew 27:4, 24).
Paul summed it up when he wrote, "For we have not an HIGH PRIEST which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, YET WITHOUT SIN." (Hebrews 4:15).
That is the Jesus who died in your place. You were the GUILTY one. He died to give you His INNOCENCE. You were the SINNER. He died and gave you His RIGHTEOUSNESS. Through Him and by faith in His blood you are INNOCENT and JUST in the sight of God. That is what Jesus is presenting before the Father.
That you deserve mercy, grace and help. That's what He expects you to confess BEFORE the Father and AGAINST the enemy. It is on this basis that God invites us to come to His throne room. We have to see what Jesus is doing for us there at the throne of grace.
"SEEING THEN that we have a great HIGH PRIEST, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us HOLD FAST OUR PROFESSION." (Hebrews 4:14).
Jesus is our hope where it matters most deep behind the veil. "Which HOPE we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters into that within the veil;
Whither the forerunner is FOR US entered, even Jesus, made an HIGH PRIEST for ever after the order of Melchisedec." (Hebrews 6:19-20).
