KNOWLEDGE OF THE HOLY

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of THE HOLY is understanding." (Proverbs 9:10).


Holy means separated, sacred, hallowed, consecrated or dedicated. God is the thrice holy God. Apart from God, the word holy can also be used to qualify a person, place or thing. When used in relationship with God, it means the person, place or thing has been separated to God.


For the purpose of this article we are looking at holiness in connection with the presence and power of God. Any thing that must carry or transmit the power of God must be holy. That is the picture we see in the scriptures.


THE ANOINTING OIL IS HOLY


For example we see that the anointing oil is called holy.


"And you shall speak unto the children of Israel, saying, This shall be an HOLY ANOINTING OIL unto me throughout your generations." (Exodus 30:31).


The holy anointing oil is used to separate people, places and objects of worship to God. It is for separation of physical things. Let's take our cue from the anointing of David as king over Israel. 


"I have found David my servant; with my HOLY OIL have I ANOINTED HIM" (Psalms 89:20).


Consider what happened when David was anointed.


"Then Samuel took the HORN OF OIL, and ANOINTED HIM in the midst of his brethren: and THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD CAME UPON DAVID FROM THAT DAY FORWARD..." (1 Samuel 16:13).


In other words the presence and power of God came upon David physically when he was anointed with the holy anointing oil. 


The anointing oil is used to choose and separate a person, place or thing to God for His purpose.


When the anointing oil is applied to a person, place or thing; they become separated to God and the presence and power of God comes upon them to establish the purpose for which they have been anointed. 


In other words you don't use the holy anointing oil without having a purpose in mind that you are inviting the power of God to perform. 


Upon the application of the holy anointing oil, whatever influence of the devil is upon a person, place or thing will be destroyed by the presence and power of God. That person begins to function in the energy of God to fulfill the purpose for which he was anointed.


God is omnipresent. We know that His power is everywhere. But we must know how to connect to it for it to be useful to us. The holy anointing oil is one of the provisions of God to tap into the power of God for our help. The holy anointing oil connects to and transmits the power of God.


Here is an illustration to help us understand how it works. Just like the presence of God, there is water vapour in the atmosphere around us. If you take an empty vessel from the fridge at 0° centigrade and put it in a room at 25° centigrade, water vapour will begin to condense on it from the atmosphere. It is now a surface at a temperature compatible for water to settle upon. 


It's like that with the power of God. The presence and power of God is holy. It is seeking for a holy medium to flow through. It looks for a medium separated to it to flow through.


This is why the holy anointing oil is used for for the purpose of healing the sick. When you anoint a sick person with the holy anointing oil the power of God rests upon him and destroys the yoke of sickness.


"Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, ANOINTING HIM WITH OIL in the name of the Lord:


And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him." (James 5:14-15).


If you get the understanding with the anointing oil you will also understand why every time in scripture where the power of God is in manifestation there was a holy medium to flow through. Sometimes it is a tangible medium, sometimes it is intangible. 


Faith transmits power because it is most holy (Jude 1:20).


A man can consecrates himself to God he becomes a human carrier and transmitter of the power of God to bless others. He or she becomes a holy man of God.
