THE POWER OF YOUR WITNESS
A WITNESS is someone who, being present, personally sees or knows something; a beholder, spectator, or eyewitness.
TO WITNESS is to see, hear, or know by personal presence and knowing.
A WITNESS bears witness by writing and saying something.
From these definitions we get the distinction between true and false witnesses. A true witness is saying the truth about what he actually saw. A false witness is a liar. It is either he was not there, therefore he cannot bear witness about what he didn't see; or he was there, but decided to lie about what he saw. Hearsay is also not being a witness.
God is a true witness. Jesus Christ is a true witness. One of the names of God is the Faithful and True Witness (Revelation 3:14). In fact, God cannot lie (Titus 1:2). He is greater than all. Who could make Him tell a lie? But much more, He can bear witness about anything because nothing is hidden from the eyes of God. He is omnipresent. He can see the past, present and future at the same time. There is no time measurement with God. Everything is happening now. It is only in nature that Now has a clock measure.
YOU CAN BELIEVE GOD
You can believe the witness of God. The Holy Spirit once gave me this illustration from 1 John 5:9.
"If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he has testified of his Son."
"When were you born, He asked.
I mentioned my birthday.
"How did you know that is true? Were you there?" My Father told me and I believed him, I answered.
"How did you know that he is your father?" He told me and I believed him, I answered again.
"Your father can testify about your birth because he was an eyewitness. He took part in the process."
If you can believe your father, then you can believe your heavenly Father's testimony about your life. He was an eyewitness and He took part in your new creation. God's word contains His eyewitness report of your life. His word is telling you what He knows. His word is telling you the truth. God's witness (testimony or report) is greater than any other witness. To believe God's word is to see with God's eyes.
THE LAW OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES
"In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established." (2 Corinthians 13:1). This is a law of God and scripture. Jesus observed it in testifying about Himself.
He allowed God to be the first witness of His life.
Then He made Himself the second.
Every other person must agree with them or be silenced.
"If I bear WITNESS of myself, my WITNESS is not true.
There is another that bears WITNESS of me; and I know that the WITNESS which he WITNESSES of me is true.
And the Father himself, which has sent me, has BORNE WITNESS of me. You have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
Search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life: and they are they which TESTIFY of me." (John 5:31-32, 37, 39).
"I am one that BEAR WITNESS of myself, and the Father that sent me BEARS WITNESS of me." (John 8:18).
SEARCH OUT GOD'S WITNESS
You may know the doctor's witness about your health; but do you know God's witness about it?
How can you believe God and silence a contrary report about you if you do not know your Heavenly Father's witness about you?
God has an eyewitness report about your health.
He has an eyewitness report about your finances.
He has an eyewitness report about your marriage.
He has an eyewitness report about your children.
He has an eye witness report about your spiritual life.
God's witness is true, current, powerful and greater.
If you agree with God's witness you will make it the witness of your life.
Again, a witness must bear witness by writing and saying something.
God has put His witness about your life in writing so that you can agree with Him and bear the same witness about yourself.
To receive Christ is to receive God's witness about you.
"And this is the record (witness), that God has given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son." (1 John 5:11).
Whatever you are going through, find God's witness about it. Search His word. Listen to His Spirit inside of you (Romans 8:16).
Faith is not blind. Faith sees through the eyes of God. His word (Spirit) is His eyes. If you want to live or walk by faith you have to trust the word of God more than your own eyes, mind or any of your five senses. Be a witness with God. It's a discipline of faith.
