LOVER, FRIEND AND DELIVERER OF SINNERS, THE OPPRESSED AND AFFLICTED.
It is the most beautiful and liberating experience in the world to know the truth about Jesus Christ.
"Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13).
Jesus Christ declared that with His own lips. He revealed that He was going to the Cross to die for His friends. He called it the greatest manifestation of love.
Now who are these people that Jesus is calling His friends and died for? Paul gave us the facts.
"For when we were YET WITHOUT STRENGTH, in due time Christ died for THE UNGODLY. . .
But God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were YET SINNERS, Christ died for us. . .
For if, when we WERE ENEMIES, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life." (Romans 5:6, 8, 10).
1. Christ died for a people without strength.
2. Christ died for the ungodly.
3. Christ died for sinners.
4. Christ died for the enemies of God. By implication, He died for those under the oppression of the devil.
It is astounding that He called them friends. He called them friends and died for them to make them friends and children of God. He reconciled them to God.
"Are you willing to become His friend?" That's the real question.
CHRIST DIED TO SET THE OPPRESSED FREE!
On earth Jesus Christ was totally free and the deliverer of those oppressed by the devil. But He chose to become the oppressed and afflicted by the devil(i). He died on the Cross and rose again after three days.
Through faith in the resurrected Christ sinners and all those oppressed by the devil are not only reconciled to God; they are also set free from oppression and affliction by Satan. Jesus Christ gives total freedom from sin and Satan to those who believe in Him.
Jesus Christ is the Lover, Friend and Deliverer of the sinner, the oppressed and the afflicted.
