LIVING WITH A SHOUT!
THE VICTORY!
. . . it is yours.
__________
This is how the end of the fight between David and Goliath was recorded for us.
"Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. AND WHEN THE PHILISTINES SAW THEIR CHAMPION WAS DEAD, THEY FLED.
And the men of Israel and of Judah AROSE, and SHOUTED, and PURSUED the Philistines, until thou come to the valley, and to the gates of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell down by the way to Shaaraim, even unto Gath, and unto Ekron." (1 Samuel 17:51-52, emphasis added).
Goliath is a type of the devil, the tormentor. David is a type of Christ, the Saviour. Goliath was the champion of the Philistines, the enemies of Israel, God's people. David represented God's covenant people, Israel. If David defeated Goliath then the Philistines would become the servants of Israel. But if Goliath defeated David, Israel would become the servants of the Philistines (1Samuel 17:9).
Both Israel and the Philistines understood the implications of the defeat of Goliath. So the Philistines fled when they SAW that their champion was dead. They knew they were defeated and now slaves. The army of Israel also knew that they were victorious and free. But what they did in response is interesting.
1. THEY AROSE.
2. THEY SHOUTED.
3. THEY PURSUED.
It was necessary for them to arise in order to pursue. But then they did an unusual thing before pursuing the Philistines. They Shouted. They celebrated the victory. It was easy for them to celebrate because they saw the victory. THEY UNDERSTOOD THAT THE VICTORY OF DAVID BELONGED TO THEM.
That victory was pointing to a much more glorious and eternal one. It was pointing to the victory of Christ over the devil through His death on the Cross, burial and resurrection. Since then the devil and his cohorts have been defeated and fleeing. For us to pursue them we have to receive and celebrate the victory of Christ. But we can only celebrate a victory that we can see.

Importance of
THE SHOUT!
_________
The shout is a spiritual key. It releases spiritual forces to work in our favour. The shout is a response to God; a celebration of the victory you have seen. If you cannot shout it is a sign that you haven't seen the victory. A shout is praise to God. You can't enjoy the victory if you don't acknowledge God as the source and thank Him for it. The shout is evidence of faith. And the word of God tells us that faith is the victory - practical victory. It means that it is faith that makes the victory of Christ our victory. You see it, you believe it, you celebrate it and you appropriate it. Anything that can steal our shout will also stop us from pursuing the enemy. To steal our shout is a strategy of the enemy to stop us from enjoying the victory that is already ours.

Pursue the enemy and
TAKE THE VICTORY.
______________
The army of Israel pursued the Philistines in the knowledge of and in the strength of the victory which was already their own. They were not pursuing in their own strength. They were not pursuing to win. They were already winners.
THEY WERE PURSUING TO ENFORCE THE VICTORY WHICH DAVID HAD ALREADY WON FOR THEM.
They were pursuing in the authority of the victory of David.
The Philistine army represents the troubles of life. Christ has already given us the victory over them. If we have seen the victory we confront life with a shout. That's why we are commanded to rejoice evermore.
Moreover It is written; ". . . the joy of the Lord is your strength." (Nehemiah 8:10). That joy comes from seeing the victory. Jesus has already overcome the devil and the world for us. We are to confront life in the joy of that revelation. We are to confront life, as children of God, in the authority of the victory of Christ. We are to live in the Name of Jesus Christ!
Thanks be to the Lord Jesus Christ.
