THE RANSOM

To SUBSTITUTE is to take the place of another: A REPLACEMENT. A RANSOM is the price given for the release of a captive. THE RANSOM becomes a SUBSTITUTE for the captive. That explains what God did for us in Christ Jesus.

"He that SPARED NOT HIS OWN SON, but delivered him up FOR US ALL, how shall he not with him also FREELY GIVE US ALL THINGS?" (Romans 8:32).

Jesus was given by God as our ransom or substitute in death for us to have righteousness and experience all good things of life. God willingly delivered Him to death for our sin as our substitute and ransom. Jesus also yielded up Himself willingly.

"For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and TO GIVE HIS LIFE A RANSOM for many." (Mark 10:45).

"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

WHO GAVE HIMSELF A RANSOM for all, to be testified in due time." (1 Timothy 2:5-6).

For this cause it is written; "He was OPPRESSED, and he was AFFLICTED, yet HE OPENED NOT HIS MOUTH: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so HE OPENETH NOT HIS MOUTH." (Isaiah 53:7).

THE PICTURE IS CLEAR IN SCRIPTURE

Isaiah gave us the details of how He was OPPRESSED and AFFLICTED in our place.

Surely He bore our griefs.

He carried our sorrows and pains.

He was wounded for our transgressions.

He was bruised for our iniquities.

The chastisement [punishment] of our peace was upon him.

And with his stripes we are healed.

The LORD laid on him the iniquity of us all. (Verses 4-6).

God made His soul an offering for our sin. (Verse 10).

All of these happened because He refused to open His mouth to reject opppression and affliction. He willingly suffered and died in our place so that we can have peace in Him.

We must apply that knowledge to be free.

"He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: BY HIS KNOWLEDGE SHALL MY RIGHTEOUS SERVANT JUSTIFY MANY; for he shall bear their iniquities." (Isaiah 53:11).

Now we can open our mouth and apply the knowledge to be free.

"For by your words you shall be JUSTIFIED, and by your words you shall be condemned." (Matthew 12:37).

RESIST EVIL IN THE NAME OF JESUS!

In Christ Jesus we can reject opppression and affliction by the knowledge of our redemption. Knowing that we are JUSTIFIED by faith in  the redemption or substitution of Christ for us, we now have boldness against every work of the devil.

Jesus took our place in sin and its judgment.

He took our place in hell.

He took our place in sickness and diseases.

He took our place in poverty and lack.

He took our place in shame and reproach.

He took our place in pain, sorrow, affliction and opppression.

He took our place in death.

He took our place in the curse.

He took our place in rejection.

Though He was the wisdom of God, He took our place in foolishness.

In His name do not accept to stay in the place He has already taken for you.

Christ Himself said, "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." (John 8:32, 36).

Thank you Lord Jesus
