How to process and receive your DESIRES!
You can process and receive your desires from God. You can enjoy reedom from the spirit of Lust which is in the world.
Every good thing in life has been freely given to us through God's exceeding great and precious promises. We are to receive them through knowledge.
"According as his divine power hath given unto us ALL THINGS THAT PERTAIN UNTO LIFE AND GODLINESS, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Whereby are GIVEN UNTO US EXCEEDING GREAT AND PRECIOUS PROMISES: that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having ESCAPED the corruption that is in the world through LUST." (2 Peter 1:3-4).
There is a corruption in the world brought about by the spirit of lust. To escape that corruption, God has given to us exceeding great and precious promises. Every of our desire to have good things must be processed through the promises of God. We must present the promise(s) for our desire. Otherwise our desires will be corrupted by the spirit of lust.
Both lust and desire are strong drives. One is a drive from God; the other is a drive from a worldly spirit. In fact lust is Satan's counterfeit for desire.
"From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your LUSTS that war in your members?
You LUST, and have not: you kill, and DESIRE to have, and cannot obtain: you fight and war, yet you have not, because YOU ASK NOT.
You ask, and receive not, because you ask amiss, that you may CONSUME IT UPON YOUR LUST.
You adulterers and adulteresses, know you not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God." (James 4:1-4).
The spirit of lust works with envy, strife and contention. It is a selfish spirit of competition. A worldly spirit.
Yet God has made a powerful promise to us in Mark 11:24.
"Therefore I say unto you, What things soever you DESIRE, when you PRAY, BELIEVE that you receive them, and you shall have them."
Therefore it is not enough to have a knowledge of the promises of God. We are to receive the good things they offer through desire, faith and prayer.
A desire that we can boldly bring to God in prayer, must have the promise(s) from God attached with it. It is the promises of God that should motivate or inspire our prayers. The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life should not drive our prayers. That is the spirit of lust at work.
"For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world." (1 John 2:16).
ASK LAWFULLY
So when you ask God for a thing, do it because God promised it; not because you want to be like others; or because of what you see with others. Don't ask to spend it on your lust. Ask to be blessed and more positioned to be a blessing to your family and others.
Look for your desires in the book; in the promises of God.
"For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly." (Psalms 84:11).
Praise God!
