A LEADERSHIP TRAGEDY
One of the greatest tragedy in life is for a leader not to understand that it is God that gave him power; that power was only delegated to him by God. That was the tragedy of Pharaoh.
"And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.
And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go." (Exodus 5:1-2).
Is that not a strange thing? Pharaoh didn't know the LORD. Yet it was the LORD who set him up. Hear what the LORD said to Pharaoh.
"And the LORD said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me. . .
And in very deed for this cause have I raised you up, for to show in you my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.
As yet exaltest you yourself against my people, that you will not let them go?" (Exodus 9:13, 16-17).
The truth of the source of his authority was hidden from him by God because he was marked for destruction.
